Maintenance of Swimming Roll
The controlled crown swimming roller of Voith production,total weight is 9,500 Kg,
Dia685*4270mm. The core Nr : 260.00520.02.01 -3; the roll is recovered. Synchronous
belt drive.
Dismounting Records
- Removed the end ofoil drop ring, and there is a small amount of hydraulic oil in the operation side ring, maybe there is a little leakage.
- Removed both side of the flat oilsealings, operation side oil sealing fix spring deformation, need to be repair before remounting
- Removed the flanges, no abnormal, the O-ringsproposal replacement
- Checked the friction seal discs, the driverside seal disc has rust, the operation side has a slight scratches, and the rust will be removed and manual grinding scratches before installation
- Checked both side main bearings, the cylinders and rail of bearings has some slightlyscratches, the driver side bearing have a large amount of grease, the bearing outer rail was not fixed to the bearing seat of roller shell, caused the bearing model and size to wear out, and needs to be fixed with glue (Loctite 603) when installation, recommended replace new bearing if there are new parts.
- Checked the Y-shaped sealing strip and ensure that the sealing surface on the operating side is smooth. The driver side sealing has carbon deposit and was stuck. One was broken and needs to be replaced. The others need to be cleaned and debugged.
- Checked the end sealing is fixed and was not worn, needs cleaning before installation
- The lip of thelength sealing was worn more than 1.2mm, recommend to replace it. The spare part needs L3000mm x 3 pcs
- All of O-rings were damaged and aging, it is recommended to replace
- Checked both side bearing seatof the core, and no abnormality was found on the operation side, there were annular marks about 6mm wide and 0.2mm depth on the driver need to be polished before installation.
- There are some rusty on the surface of the roll core, and the rust should be removedbefore installation.
- Checked the bearing seatof the shell and the inner surface, there are some annular scratches on the bearing seat of the driver It is recommended to use fixing glue (Loctite 603) during installation. There are serious scratches and rust in the shell. It is recommended to removed rust before installation
General Remark
Based on the above inspection items, the roll has not been used for a long time and there is no hydraulic oil in the oil routine, resulting in rusting of the roller components.
In addition, there is a large amount of lubricating grease on the driver side bearing. It is possible that the roll was not used as a controllable crown roller, or customer disassembled it before this time repairing and added lubricating grease to prevent rusting.
If the roll is only used as a non controllable crown roll, it is recommended to:
- To confirm Item 5 whether the main bearingsto be replaced, there is a risk of runout over spec
- To confirm Item 11 the annularscratches of driver side shell bearing seat , it is recommended to use fixing glue (Loctite 603) for installation to prevent deterioration
If still need to restore controllable crown functionality, it is recommended to:
- To confirm that Items 6, 7, and 8 are the main spare parts for ensuring crown Ifcontrollable crown functionality is required, it is recommended to replace them
- Item 11, Rust on the inside of roller shell needs to be removed by grinding beforeinstallation
- As the roller has not been used for a long time, it is recommended to dohydraulic testing after installation to ensure that it is qualified before shipment
